Service Description
In order to register for your BLS renewal course, your AHA BLS Provider certification must be current and non expired. This class is designed for participants seeking BLS certification for the first-time or whose current BLS Provider card has passed the recommended renewal date this course is approximately 4 hours. ACLS renewal can be added to this course please see the ACLS/BLS Combo renewal course. Basic Life Support is American Heart Association’s first responder CPR course for health professionals. This video-based, Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both in-facility and prehospital settings. It provides the required BLS certification for people entering or working in healthcare industries. The Basic Life Support (BLS) is designed to teach you to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking victims. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing and complete a written exam. If you are not a Healthcare Provider or do not work in a Healthcare environment , please see the Heartsaver list of courses. Course Content Key changes in basic life support, reflecting the new science from the current American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care High-quality CPR for adults, children and infants Chain of Survival Recognize the signs of someone needing CPR 1-Rescuer and 2-Rescuer CPR and AED for adult, child and infants Bag-mask and barrier device ventilation techniques for adult, child and infant Provide effective ventilations with a barrier device for adult, child and infants Relief of choking for adult, child and infant Upon Course completion you will be issued a card or certificate from the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course Completion Card is valid for two years. The course also provides CEU units for all health care professionals. The American Heart Association requires students to have the textbook for this course. If you already own one, please bring it with you to the course. If you do not own one, we will have the textbooks available for purchase. The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.
