Service Description
In order to register for your ACLS/BLS initial course, your AHA BLS Provider certification and ACLS certification should be expired. This class is 14 hours. ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics, communication, systems of care, immediate post-cardiac-arrest care, airway management and related pharmacology. Basic Life Support is American Heart Association’s first responder CPR course for health professionals. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. This class is for emergency personnel who need an ACLS and BLS course completion card for job requirements. This class is designed for healthcare professionals who direct or participate in the management of cardiovascular emergencies. Course Content Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the current American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care Basic life support skills, including: chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an (AED) with emphasis on continuous high-quality CPR Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes. Airway management Systems of Care Related pharmacology High performance resuscitation team dynamics and effective communication as a team member and leader The American Heart Association requires students to have the textbook for this course. If you already own one, please bring it with you to the course. If you do not own one, we will have the textbooks available for purchase. Upon course completion you will get a card or certificate once you demonstrate skills competency in all learning stations, pass the CPR and AED skills test, bag-mask ventilation skills test, a Megacode test, and a written test, students will receive an ACLS and BLS provider card, valid for two years. The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the AHA.
